About the Program
This 30-day residential treatment program is designed as a structured introduction to recovery for individuals seeking support for substance use disorder, including alcohol and drug addiction. It provides a safe and supportive environment where residents can stabilize, begin understanding the patterns behind their substance use, and develop practical skills for maintaining sobriety.
Residents participate in daily group therapy, educational sessions, and experiential activities that help them better understand addiction, recognize triggers, and develop healthier coping strategies. Treatment draws on several established approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps residents identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, and group therapy, where our counsellors help residents explore their personal experiences with the support and feedback of peers.
The program also incorporates principles of the Minnesota Model, an abstinence-based approach that combines professional treatment with peer support and 12-step recovery. Residents are introduced to 12-step principles and meetings, with an emphasis on accountability, connection, and building a supportive recovery network.
For those who need it, detox support and stabilization are available as they transition into treatment. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team that may include medical, psychotherapy, social work, and addiction-counselling professionals.
After the residential stay, participants receive six weeks of weekly recovery check-ins, while family members may access ongoing support groups.
Highlighted Features
Resident-to-Therapist Ratio
A lower resident-to-therapist ratio allows our residents to receive more individualized attention throughout treatment. With fewer residents assigned to each therapist, clinicians can spend more time understanding each resident’s needs, progress, challenges, and recovery goals. This can support stronger therapeutic relationships, more personalized treatment planning, and greater continuity of care, while giving residents more opportunities to raise concerns and work through issues as they arise.
Comfortable, Home-Like Environment
Our residential program is housed in a spacious turn-of-the-century home, giving residents a comfortable and welcoming place to focus on recovery. Shared living areas provide room for community and connection, while quieter spaces allow for privacy and individualized care. Residents also have access to amenities such as a gym, garden, swimming pool, and nearby waterfront throughout the program.
Strong Recovery Community
Through ongoing contact with alumni, our residents build relationships with others who understand the realities of recovery at different stages. Graduates remain connected through a two-year weekly aftercare program, giving current and former residents the opportunity to learn from one another
